Shopping for the perfect sensory-friendly gift?

Shopping for holiday gifts and special events doesn’t need to be stressful. Let us help you find the perfect gift for your loved ones who have sensory preferences! There are a few things to be aware of when choosing a gift. Keep in mind the gift recipient’s special interests, texture aversions, and useful ways to self regulate. Also consider their developmental ability to find a gift that is safe for the individual to use. For example, you’ll want to avoid gifts with small or breakable pieces if the recipient is prone to chew on or throw items.
The Sense Ability team has compiled a list of gift suggestions for you to explore. We have gift ideas for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy. Several of these gifts are also available to purchase at Sense Ability Wellness. We also offer gift certificates for a 90 minute visit to Sense Ability, to enjoy time in the sensory gym, music room, puzzle & game room and bring a snack to eat in our kitchen. We’ve highlighted some of our favorite businesses that employ and support individuals with disabilities.

Businesses that employ individuals with disabilities

  • Project Kind employs adults with disabilities and they make great beaded bracelets. Our favorites are the ones with meaningful messages like Do Good, Inclusion, and Be Kind. We have these in stock at Sense Ability
  • Not Your Average Joe Coffee serves exceptional coffee at several locations in OKC, Norman and Broken Arrow. Their mission is to employ people of all abilities, including those with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities
  • Be Kind to Everyone is a t-shirt company run by an autistic young adult
  • EARC Thrift Stores Find thrifted treasures at their three locations in Edmond and Guthrie. EARC supports employment and housing to encourage greater independence for individuals with developmental disabilities
